How to Create Your Shortcut on iPhone (3 Easy Steps):

  1. Deploy Private Backend (Google Apps Script):
    Create a Google Sheet in your Google Drive → Click Extensions → Apps Script → Paste the private Apps Script code below → Deploy as Web app (Access: Anyone).
  2. Create iOS Shortcut in Shortcuts App:
    Open Shortcuts app on iPhone → Tap + → Add these actions:
    • Ask for Input (Number): "Enter Amount (LKR)"
    • Choose from List: Food & Dining, Groceries, Transport, Bills, Shopping, Business, Health, Other
    • Ask for Input (Text, optional): "Note / Description"
    • Get Contents of URL: Method: POST, Request Body: JSON. Set keys:
      • amount → Provided Amount
      • category → Chosen Item
      • note → Provided Note
      • type → "expense"
      • date → Current Date (Formatted yyyy-MM-dd)
  3. Add to Home Screen & iPhone 14 Pro Max Back Tap:
    Tap the Shortcut share icon → Add to Home Screen.
    💡 iPhone 14 Pro Max Back Tap Setup: Go to Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap → Triple Tap (or Double Tap), and select your Log Expense Shortcut. Now triple-tapping the back of your iPhone logs expenses from anywhere!
